Desmond Gordon Desmond Gordon

Desmond admits that his time in prison was lonely and difficult, but it was his love of cooking which kept him sane.

Desmond undertook valuable work experience outside the prison as a chef and says, ‘I really enjoyed preparing meals and interacting with people at the museum I worked in.’

After leaving prison Desmond was referred to Red Kite Learning by his probation officer for one-to-one help with compiling a CV and advice on disclosure. Desmond comments, ‘My sessions with my advisor have increased my confidence and the belief that I can pursue work in the catering industry as a career.’

Desmond regularly attended the weekly job search sessions run by his advisor to pursue training opportunities in the catering field.

Desmond describes the difference Red Kite Learning has made to his career aspirations, ‘My advisor has been very helpful and motivational. I now have my sights set on setting up my own catering business in the future once I have obtained a recognised qualification. Without the help of Red Kite Learning, I do not know where I would be now.’
