Work Based Learning

elearning

Red Kite Learning is working with employers in London who want to improve their employees’ literacy, language and numeracy skills.

We have designed courses which give workers the opportunity to gain confidence in their workplace and improve the skills which are relevant to their work. The courses have been very popular with both employers and employees and are a very successful way of raising morale and performance at work, as these recent case studies demonstrate.

The courses we offer are entirely government funded. We aim to be as flexible as possible to ensure the lessons are delivered at times that are convenient for both the employer and the employee.

How the courses work:

  • For businesses with 6 learners or more we can send a tutor to your premises at a convenient time.
  • We deliver between 25 - 30 hours of ‘contact time’, normally two hours a week for about 3 months; though this can vary, depending on the employers’ and employees’ needs.
  • All learners will work toward a nationally recognised qualification from City & Guilds or OCR which will show which level they have reached.
  • We teach up to ‘Level 2’ which is the equivalent of GCSE grades A – C

Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages) Courses

  • Improving spoken English, including pronunciation – This improves customer service and line management issues.
  • Enhance reading ability - Useful for following health and safety instructions and other workplace instructions.
  • Practicing writing skills and improving English grammar - This will make it easier for employees to write reports and fill in forms accurately.

Numeracy Courses

  • Cash handling and reconciliation - Reduces wastage and improves accuracy.
  • Reducing errors and improving mental arithmetic - This will help with negotiations and save money.
  • Understanding figures to utilise company data - Allows employees to show changes in performance through analysis of percentage differences and ratios.
